About Us
Turfsaw, LLC was founded earlier
last year by an 86 year old former CGCS (1975-1985) who
recently invented and patented a revolutionary way of aerating turf. Our
founder has 60 years of experience with horticulture, 45 of which have dealt
with the care of turf. He started a nursery business right after WWII but left
that after 15 years to become a golf course superintendent. He served as
superintendent at six different courses over a period of 15 years during which
time he became certified and invented and patented a turf aerator. This was
never marketed but led to the formation of a company specializing in turf
drainage.
Having resigned as superintendent, he
spent the next 15 years improving turf drainage all over the US. A few of the
better known locations where turf drainage work was done include the old Field
of the Chicago White Sox, the old Orange Bowl, the South Florida training
facility for the Houston Astro's, a football field at Cal State Berkley, and
some fairway work at Pebble Beach. Altogether, work was done in about 20
states.
Tired of traveling, he sold the business
(now known as Sand Channel Greens) and retired. But he couldn't stop thinking
about turf drainage and aeration. In the process he developed a revolutionary
turf aerator which he called a TurfSaw so he has unretired to become the CEO of
TurfSaw, LLC and at 86 is once again improving sports turf all over
